ADVANCING COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP THROUGH POLICY
Building the Conditions to Thrive

Community-owned real estate does not succeed through individual projects alone. It requires an ecosystem of policies, institutions, partnerships, and public investments that make community ownership possible at scale.

funds, and democratic ownership models throughout Minnesota.

By engaging with local governments, state agencies, elected officials, and public institutions, we work to elevate community ownership as a practical solution to challenges such as housing affordability, neighborhood displacement, wealth inequality, and local economic resilience.

Our coalition supports efforts to advance policies that expand access to capital, preserve affordability, encourage cooperative ownership structures, and ensure communities have a meaningful voice in decisions that shape their neighborhoods.

Through research, advocacy, coalition-building, and public education, we seek to create a future where residents are not simply affected by development—they are active participants in ownership, governance, and long-term prosperity.
