A better way to build, own, and thrive together.

How we define

Community Ownership

We define community ownership as for-profit enterprises that are majority-owned and controlled by local residents or businesses. Each co-owner ("member") is entitled to an equal vote in the governance of the entity and a share of the economic benefits generated by its operations.

While many models are being developed under the term "community ownership," our coalition focuses on supporting real estate cooperatives. Each member gets one vote, regardless of their investment amount. Together, members equally share in the decisions, the benefits, and the future.

Why Co-ops?

Co-ops put people —not profits— at the center. They create economic opportunity, preserve affordability, and give communities lasting control over the places they call home.

Keep wealth in the community

Build stable, affordable spaces

Empower local decision-making

Create long-term generational impact
