Minnesota Consortium of Community Developers

MCCD works collectively to expand economic prosperity by investing in and stewarding community development resources. We use capital, collaboration, and policy advocacy to build community wealth — especially in places and among people that have historically been excluded.

About Us

The Minnesota Consortium of Community Developers (MCCD) is a statewide membership network and mission-driven certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) bringing together nonprofit housing and economic development organizations working from rural main streets to city neighborhoods. Together, we expand access to capital, support entrepreneurs and affordable housing development, and advance policies that address long-standing barriers to ownership and opportunity. As both a consortium and a direct lender, MCCD deploys mission-driven financing, provides technical assistance, and convenes partners across sectors to align community priorities with investment and policy. We do this through four areas of work:

As both a consortium and a direct lender, MCCD deploys mission-driven financing, provides technical assistance, and convenes partners across sectors to align community priorities with investment and policy. We do this through four areas of work:

Small Business Development: Technical assistance and coaching to help entrepreneurs launch, grow, transition, and sustain businesses in the ownership structure that fit their goals.

Lending: Flexible financing paired with practical support for members, small businesses, and shared ownership enterprises that strengthen local economies.

Policy and Advocacy: Membership-led work that addresses systemic failures through policy and funding decisions, improving programs and expanding access to opportunity.

Leadership Development and Field Building: The Community Development Leadership Center connects leaders across regions to share knowledge, build strategy, and strengthen the community development field.

Community Shared Ownership

MCCD works at the intersection of housing, economic opportunity, and community wealth-building. Through policy advocacy, business support, leadership development, and shared ownership strategies, MCCD helps communities across Minnesota create more equitable pathways to prosperity.
